The General Inspectorate for Cultural Activities (IGAC) notified yesterday by Portugal Telecom (PT), in its capacity as provider (Internet Service Provider, ISP), to remove and prevent the access to 28 sites that illegally offer movies, music and editorial matter.
Of the 28 sites, the PT is obliged to remove four, which are stored on its servers (blogdownload.blogs.sapo.pt, downloadscompletos.blogs.sapo.pt, splegendas.no.sapo.ptCCPMOD and film-in-casa.blogs . sapo.pt) and disable access to the other 24: mcluckyy.blogspot.com, www.tvgente.com, www.tugapirata.org, www.tuga-filmes.com, www.tugadownloads.com, www.superpiratas.com , www.sapotuga.com, www.piratatuga.net, www.pedrofsn, net, videotecafilmes.blogspot.com, tuga-musicas.blogspot.com, soupirata.net, sacar24h.blogspot.com, en-downs.blogspot.com , portugalseries.net, pdclinks.net / forum, jambtuga.blogspot.com, downloadfilmesgratis.blogspot.com, downloads-heaven.blogspot.com, downsportugal.blogspot.com, theater-in-casa.blogs.sapo.pt, cinematuga . with totilmania.the-up.com and fanaticosdownload.blogspot.com.
The decision was adopted under the Law of Electronic Commerce, in force since 2004, and following complaints by MAPiNET - Civic Movement Anti-Internet Piracy, an association of supporters of copyright and intellectual property and began activity in November.
The General Inspection of Cultural Activities confirmed to PUBLIC, following a complaint, "were notified several entities" that "kept the public availability of phonograms and videograms containing artistic works and services protected by copyright and neighboring rights, without for that allegedly had been granted the necessary authorizations by the holders or their representatives, which sets the violation of Articles 178. and 184 º. of the Code of Copyright and Related Rights ".
Vera Chestnut, the MAPiNET, the PUBLIC indicated that "all the sites in question" proceed "to the infringement of copyright and related rights, since they illegally offer copyrighted works."
The same charge stated that Portugal Telecom "like other ISPs," was informed by MAPiNET "for over one month of the existence of these sites" but, unlike other ISPs - who decided to immediately remove the sites "pirates" - "PT did nothing."
It was following this "failure" of the PT that emerged MAPiNET complaint.
"We await the implementation of this decision by PT, and trust in the role of general supervision by the entity, ANACOM, to ensure compliance with the decision adopted by IGAC. The MAPiNET continue to fight the widespread theft of copyrighted works and soon the Internet will promote further action, "stressed the official.
