Married with beautiful ugly 'is more likely to succeed'
A study by U.S. scientists said that marriages are more likely to succeed when the woman is more beautiful than the man.
The research, conducted by a team of psychologists at the University of Tennessee, analyzed as the difference between the "level of attractiveness" of the partners is related to the satisfaction of a couple.
Through interviews with 80 newly married couples, scientists realized that the beauty had effects "robust and universally positive" at the beginning of relationships.
But, in marriages that followed, "the most handsome men were less satisfied," they wrote in an article published in the Journal of Family Psychology.
"Men are more beautiful than their partner demonstrated a tendency to offer less emotional and practical support to their wives", said Professor James McNulty, who led the study, according to British newspaper Daily Mail.
"Men have the most beautiful available more opportunities for short-term relationships, which makes them less satisfied and committed to the relationship."
In the article, the researchers say that similar levels of beauty were important early in the relationship - but they were losing importance as the relationship progressed.
According to them, "both partners behaved more positively in relationships in which women were more attractive than their husbands, and negatively in relationships in which men were more attractive than their wives."
